Why Music Matters!

“I believe arts education in music, theater, dance and the visual arts is one of the most creative ways we have to find the gold that is buried just beneath the surface. They [children] have an enthusiasm for life, a spark of creativity, and vivid imaginations that need training....training that prepares them to become confident young men and women.”

Richard W. Riley, U.S. Secretary of Education, 1993 - 2001

District 95’s Performance Music programs are recognized for their excellence and our students are fortunate to have a variety of curricular music opportunities including all levels of Orchestra, Choir, and Band. This degree of excellence requires the commitment of students, teachers, administrators, and parents.

Mission & Goals

The PMA is a parent founded advocacy group whose mission is to promote the importance and benefits of performance music education in District 95, and to facilitate communication between families, music programs, administration, and Board of Education, on performance music issues. Membership is free and open to anyone interested in supporting the purpose and objectives of the PMA, as well as those interested in advancing the Arts in the Lake Zurich area.

We believe our efforts should always be thought of as an addition to, and not as a replacement for the school district’s responsibility to maintain funding for performance music education and related programs. Rather, we will strive to provide the means for students to have music experiences beyond that which the school district supplies.
